Description
What this module covers:
Inclusive program design as a practical decision-making process — identifying specific barriers that exclude population groups and making the structural changes that remove them.
Core topics:
– Barrier mapping: analyzing where a program’s design, communication, or delivery creates exclusion for specific groups
– Physical and communication accessibility: facility considerations, format adaptations, and information design that broadens participation without restructuring the entire program
– Cultural responsiveness: adjusting facilitation approach, scheduling, and program framing for communities whose leisure needs differ from assumed defaults
Approx. hours: +/- 5
What shifts:
A practical inclusive design capability — replacing good intentions with specific, applicable decisions that measurably extend who a program reaches and retains.
